SAIH Ås sin president, Emilie, dro på høstsamling og har skrevet et lite innlegg om dette. Ellers håper jeg at alle har hatt en god ferie og ønsker både nye og gamle aktivister velkommen tilbake til nok et spennende semester her på Ås og ellers i landet!
4 aktivistet fra SAIH- Ås var med på SAIHs idylliske høstsamling på Strandheim leirsted på Nærsnes. Dette var en helt herlig helg bestående av spennende foredrag, kreativt kampanjearbeid og underholdning. Særlig foredraget til Martina Vucasovic som foralte om studentopprøret i Serbia og filmen om studentleder Diego Marin gjorde inntrykk. Ellers var det også veldig moro å prøve å komme på aktuelle stunts og aktiviteter som kan gjøres under årets kampanjeuke. Alt i alt er SAIH- Ås veldig førnøyde med høstsamingen og sitter igjen med inspirasjon og motivasjon til videre arbeid i lokallaget.

In week 38 from 19th of September to 23 of September Saih-Ås will arrange International food week at the Canteen at Samfunnet. Everyday there will be served a dish from one of our partner countries Zambia, Bolivia, Zimbabwe, South-Africa and Nicaragua. This is a great way to experience different food! Bring your friends and experience this great food together.

Våre tanker og medfølelse går til alle de rammede og pårørte etter eksplosjonen i Oslo og tragedien på Utøya. Ingen hadde noen gang trodd at noe så tragisk kunne skje, men det er i sånne krisesituasjoner det er viktig at vi står sammen og styrker hverandre. Vi må gi vår støtte til de som trenger det og sammen være sterke.
On the 12th of April, SAIH-Ås got a visit from a Colombian student rights group, ACEU. They were represented by Ingrid Hurtado and Oscar Eduardo Dussan Salas. ACEU works for better student and human rights, as well as an autonomous, democratic, free public higher education and the right to organize in unions. Their fight for these rights is very difficult and dangerous in a country such as Colombia. Colombia is one of the most dangerous and risky countries in the world for students to organize and they are being arrested, tortured and killed in their attempt to fight for students rights. I forbindelse med at SAIH feirer 50 årsjubileum i år, har vi hatt en liten spørrerunde blant studentene her på Ås. Dette ble gjort under den internasjonale matfestivalen, hvor lokallaget også var med å representere Norge under festivalen. To celebrate and mark the Women’s Day on the 8th of March, SAIH-Ås got a visit from Kjersti from KLU, who held a lecture about women’s rights in South Africa. This year it was kind of special since it is 100 years since the Women’s Day were first celebrated. Kjersti told us about some organizations in both South Africa and Zimbabwe and how they are working for women’s rights. Even though there were only ten people attending, we had a good discussion in the end.
From monday the 14th of February to Friday the 18th of February, SAIH-Ås arranged an international food week together with the Canteen at UMB. Everyday there was served a meal from one of our partner countries: Zimbabwe,South- Africa, Zambia, Bolivia and Nicaragua.
This was a great success and the Canteen reported that there were a lot of students who chose to eat a meal from a different country this week and this is something we absolutely could consider to do again sometime.
