SAIH-Kristiansand lanserer den nye rapporten “The Language of the Police Batons – attacks on teachers and students in Zimbabwe”.
Rapporten viser hvordan utdannings-sektoren i Zimbabwe både har blitt et offer og et virkemiddel for den autoritære presidenten Robert Mugabe. Den inneholder bl. a. statistikk som viser at halvparten av de 1000 spurte lærere i Zimbabwe har opplevd politisk vold og fire av fem lærere har blitt tvunget til å delta på politiske møter med ZANU-PF.
Vi får besøk av Anja Bakken Riise fra SAIH-sentralt til å legge fram rapporten. Hun vil også fortelle om hvordan situasjonen, spesielt for studenter og lærere, er i Zimbabwe idag.
I tillegg til fremleggelse av rapporten vil dokumentaren “Hva skjedde med Mugabe?” (Mugabe, what happened?) bli vist. Filmen forteller hvordan Zimbabwes president Robert Mugabe har gått fra å være en frigjøringshelt til å bli en korrupt og tyrannisk despot. Se trailer på Vimeo.

SAIH-Kristiansand presents the new report “The Language of the Police Batons – attacks on teachers and students in Zimbabwe”.
The report reveals how the education-sector in Zimbabwe has become both a victim itself and an instrument used by the authoritarian president Robert Mugabe. Among the findings in the report are statistics that show that half of the one thousand teachers asked in Zimbabwe have experienced political violence. Four out of five teachers have been forced to participate at political events with the ZANU-PF.
Anja Bakken Riise from SAIH will be presenting the report. She will also be speaking about the current situation for students and teachers in Zimbabwe.
After the presentation we’ll be showing the documentary “Mugabe, what happened?” It tells the story of how Robert Mugabe, once a revolutionary hero, became a corrupt and tyrannical despot. Watch trailer on Vimeo.
