Student activist? Get in touch!

In recent years, many countries around the world have seen shrinking of civic space and increasing efforts to silence activists and human rights defenders, including students. Now we are calling upon activists from around the world to answer a short survey to help us get a better understanding of the challenges faced by student activists and how authority figures try to silence them.

The research is being conducted by independent researchers, Amy Kapit and Héctor Ríos-Jara and build on the report Activism Under Attack: Understanding the Repression of University Student Activism published in March 2023.

In an effort to understand the experiences of student activists in the face of threats and attacks, we are conducting both a survey and qualitative interviews with students in order to learn more about their experiences.

Participants should be current or recent undergraduate, masters, or doctoral students engaged in some kind of social or political action (either organized or unorganized) on behalf of others or to improve society. Participants should be at least 18 years of age.

Your valuable input will shape our second report and help us protect and promote student activism globally.
