SAIH is calling for applications fromrecent graduates and young professionalswith an interest in research and social justiceto join the international exchange project ‘Youth Exchange Against Anti-Rights’. This offers a unique opportunity to conduct impactful research and build advocacy skills within an international framework.
The Norwegian Students’ and Academics’ International Assistance Fund (SAIH) is looking for two participants to take part in a one-year international exchange between South Africa, Myanmar/Thailand and Norway. The exchange will involve spending time between South Africa, Thailand and Norwayto conduct research on anti-rights forces affecting historically marginalisedpeople. Two students will be recruited from each country/region, making a total of six participants in the program with different backgrounds.
Participants will also be trained in advocacy and research communication and contribute to the advocacy strategies of partner organisations.
With funding from Norec, SAIH is partnering with Colors Rainbow (CRB), a leading Myanmar LGBTIA+ rights organisation (currently based in Chiang Mai, Thailand), and the Centre for Sexualities, AIDS and Gender (CSA&G) at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Starting 13 January 2025, each of the three partner organisations will send two participants on the exchange. Participants will spend January-April in Pretoria, May-July in Oslo, August-November in Chiang Mai, and December in the country of their sending organisation.
This is one-year paid engagement. Participants sent from SAIH will receive a stipend of NOK 10,000 per month when in South Africa, NOK 25,000 per month when in Norway, and NOK 10,000 per month when in Thailand.
