Stories from our work
What we do
SAIH fights for equal access to quality higher education for all, so that they can contribute to more just and inclusive societies.
SAIH works in partnership with local organizations in seven countries in Latin America, Southern Africa, and Asia. We support student organizations, trade unions, indigenous peoples' groups, universities, and human rights defenders in their struggle for equal rights to education and academic freedom. At home, SAIH works together with dedicated members, volunteers and allies for political change, action, and international solidarity.
How we work
We document violations of students' rights.
We support research on marginalized groups.
We inform the world about injustice.
We challenge those in power.
SAIH is not a charity but a solidarity organisation. Our work is based on collaboration between equal partners working towards common goals. We seek to challenge the power structures in education and development cooperation, and work to shift power from us to our partners. The projects we support are initiated and led by local organisations, because they know their situation best.
