Stories from our work
Bolivia
SAIH started its work in Bolivia in 1962. The organizations we support fight for intercultural education and to strengthen the rights of indigenous people, women, and the LGBTQI+ community.
Bolivia is a country with many diverse cultures, but due to its history of colonization, the indigenous population faces discrimination and exclusion from both education and political decisions. This is despite the fact that indigenous people make up the majority of the population.
SAIH's partners work to provide education that takes into account the various cultures, while also trying to preserve important knowledge by revitalizing languages. They also advocate for promoting inclusive and safe learning environments, especially for groups that have historically been marginalized, such as indigenous people, women, and the LGBTQI+ community.
