SAIH in solidarity with Students and Academics in Iran
We are gravely concerned for students and academics in Iran who are facing extreme levels of brutality for protesting the death of Mahsa Amini in the custody of the Iranian regime’s morality police.
Various reports show the Iranian government violently cracking down on protests in and around universities in the country.
At Sharif University in Tehran, on Monday, security forces were shown firing tear gas and what appears to be gun shots to dispel protestors, including students. The Global Students Forum notes that several students have also been arrested by authorities without any information about their whereabouts and an increasing concern about possible tortures taking place.
Show your solidarity
Show your solidarity with students, academics and everyone in Iran by writing the slogan 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadi' or 'Woman, Life, Freedom' (English) on your hand.

We condemn the brutal violence and attacks on the people of Iran, including students and academics in the strongest possible terms and stand in strong solidarity with them and everyone in Iran. The Iranian government must uphold the constitutional right of all to assembly and peaceful protest, refrain from using lethal force and end all repressive actions against protesters. They must also immediately release all students who are imprisoned for protesting.
Lastly, we call upon the Norwegian government to continue its efforts in condemning the violence in the country, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
