The GALA Queer Archive works for the production, preservation and dissemination of queer history, culture and lived experiences in South Africa

The GALA Queer Archive is a pivotal force for LGBTQIA+ history and culture in South Africa. With support from SAIH, they are challenging misconceptions about LGBTQIA+ identities' compatibility with African culture and enriching higher education with LGBTQIA+ perspectives. GALA promotes awareness and understanding of sexual orientation and gender identity, making sure LGBTQIA+ stories are part of South African heritage.
