Police want ZINASU President
Zimbabwe Republic Police have released an instruction to all police stations in Zimbabwe to arrest Promise Mkwananzi, the ZINASU President upon seeing him.They are instructed to immeditely arrest ,detain and transfer him to Harare Law and Order.The police notice which alleges that Mkwananzi breached the Criminal Codification( Reform) Act and describes him as a bigotry.On Sunday the 17th of December 2006, Police Assistant Commissioner Wayne Bvudzijena ,speaking on natioal radio confirmed that the police were looking for Promise Mkwananzi in connection with his involvement in the demonstrations that rocked the Zimbabwean Tertiary lnstitutions. Mkwananzi was early this month forcibly removed from examination rooms by unkown assilants that alleged that Mkwananzi had pending disciplinary cases which he needed to clear before he could sit for the said examinations.The numerous court oders ordering the university to allow him back to college have beem repeatedly defied .Promise Mkwananzi and the entire ZINASU leadership led earth-shattering demonstrations in a comprehensive program dubbed DEFENDING ACADEMIC FREEDOMS IN ZIMBABWE.ln the process several student leaders and activists were either arrested ,suspended ,expelled or refused to write their examinations. Efforts to persuade the Ministry Authorities to dialogue have faced immense resistance. Meanwhile Mkwananzi`s Lawyers have said they will confirm with Harare Central what the actual charges being levelled against him are.Promise Mkwananzi said he would wait for instructions from his Lawyers on what steps to take but vowed that he will continue to steer the students union forward and asserted that the students union would intensify their efforts next year.
